I have now completed Violet and the Panther. It only took a year 🙂

Violet is feeling sorry for herself as she kicks through autumn leaves in the wood.

Why me?

Why am I always wrong?

Why don’t my ‘friends’ include me in their games?

WHY? WHY? WHY?

She is shocked when she hears a voice say…
“I don’t like your why’s much”

The panther is casually lying on a tree branch and they strike up a conversation about the right kind of why’s to be asking.
The trouble is that Violet is never quite sure whether she’s going to be eaten or not!
Can she talk her way out of this tricky situation and will she live long enough to learn to ask the right kind of why’s?

Dear Scallywags, if you like writing stories as much as I do then please enter my competition to write a story in 250 words. It can be on any subject you like but if you prefer to have an idea suggested then write about a dinosaur called Simtan, who lives in a cave by the Salty Sea, in Deadlefizz’s World.

Fabulous venue at Castle Fraser on Saturday. We climbed up many flights of spiral stairs to get to the library. These guys are avid readers and had read a couple of my books before I even started the event.

I will be at Castle Fraser’s Christmas event this Saturday doing some readings and activities at 11.30 and 12.30.
Then I’m off to the Christmas at Haddo House event for 2pm.
On Sunday 15th I’ll be reading at 2pm and 3pm.

There will be ‘A Snow Deer for Santa’ and ‘Deadlefizz Dinosaur’s Drastic Drama’, an action song, some drawing and a funny challenge.

It’s always exciting to welcome your baby home after nurturing for so long. It’s good to hear their highs and lows for the year and to see how they are looking.

I thought I had learnt from my previous book’s images, which arrived dull and dark, after translation into printing ink. I had brightened all the pictures and hoped I was ahead of the game. So when I opened my latest book, Violet and the Panther, imagine my surprise when I discovered her backgrounds had gone a worse shade of Trump Orange! Have spent the morning toning down the hues and playing with darkness & shadows, adjusting the print to make the pages flow better and seeing how it feels. Once ready I’ll need to send off for another Proof Copy and hope it’s all worked.

As mentioned I’m storytelling at 3pm this Saturday and 2pm & 3pm on Sunday. it is generally for 4 to 8 year olds for my books and activities.

Here are the other activities:

• Visit the Elves in their little workshop
• Climb aboard Santa’s REAL sleigh
• Visit the cutest pony in the Victorian stable
• Get creative at one of the 3 different crafty stalls
• Attend a children’s story-time session with the author
• All of these activities are free
• There is also a mini Christmas Market in the Stables Courtyard for last minute shopping of wonderful gifts & treats

• And enjoy warm food & drink at both the tearoom and from the fabulous visiting street-food vendors.
• Visitors can top off their visit with a lovely walk in the country park ….​

Haddo House’s Christmas gift to its customers is Free Entry to all these activities. Open 11am – 4pm.

Well it’s December and for the next two weekends I will be at the ‘Haddo House at Christmas‘ event.

I will read my “A Snow Deer for Santa” book and we will do some drawing related to it.

I will also read one of my Deadlefizz Dinosaur books and we’ll learn an action song – the parents love this one too.

The sessions are:

Saturday 7th at 3pm

Sunday 8th at 2pm & 3pm

Saturday 14th at 3pm

Sunday 15th at 2pm & 3pm

We will be in The Mobil Room, which is the entrance room to the craft fair in the main hall.

These picture books are generally suited to 4 to 8 year olds.
